Ascorbyl Glucoside (AA-2G) is a derivative of vitamin C where a glucose group is added to the active site of vitamin C, making it more stable than vitamin C under oxidizing conditions. Ascorbyl Glucoside can be hydrolyzed by α-glucosidase into ascorbic acid and glucose, allowing it to exert the benefits of ascorbic acid. Ascorbyl Glucoside has the same collagen-activating ability as L-ascorbic acid, and it can scavenge free radicals, enhance antibody production, and promote collagen synthesis by fibroblast cells in the skin. It also enhances the antioxidant activity of
α-vitamin E and protects against acute inflammation caused by UV irradiation.
Effects and Functions:
1.Brighten Skin Color and Inhibit Melanin Formation
Ascorbyl Glucoside is converted into vitamin C upon entering skin cells.
It significantly reduces melanin formation by inhibiting tyrosinase activity, which plays a key role in melanin biosynthesis.
Additionally, vitamin C converts dopachrome into leukodopachrome, which relieves melanin formation, thereby reducing skin pigmentation.
2.Resist UV Damage and Inhibit UV-Induced Cell Damage
Ascorbyl Glucoside converted into vitamin C can significantly reduce UV-induced free radicals in the skin, significantly reducing UV-induced skin damage. It serves as a protective agent in sunscreen products by protecting skin cells from UV irradiation.
